The best way is by serial number. Any gun with a serial number higher than 2586001 is a post 64. Thanks, 30-30remchester, mine starts with 407****, so it must be a post '64. It does have a walnut stock, half cock, and milled follower. However, it works for me, even though it has the sloppiest trigger of any gun I own.

I don't remember what year they started factory tapping the receivers on 94 s for that sight. If this one was tapped outside the factory then that will detract from it's collector value.
