I did have an old Hornady manual about 30 years ago that listed 4320 for .45-70. I had started out with a Siamese Mauser conversion in .45-70 using a load of IMR 4227 from the same book for 500 gr. bullets. It was an economical load giving good velocity and being a thirfty lad I decided "less powder, less cost, same velocity".My use of IMR 3031 in the 45-70 was for full power loads under heavy cast and jacketed bullets although I see no reason why it wouldn't work reduced with dacron. I did do some fairly weird things in 22 K Hornet using 3031 and filler, as oddball as that sounds. Can't say it was the cleanest burning powder experience.I have used A2015 in 223, 35 rem, 45-70, 30-06, 303 brit, 30-30 with a mix of cast & jacketed bullets.
