Removed borrowed parts and months later installed new parts to get running again. When I turned gas on it ran out of carb (no air tube connected).FORD 8N TRACTOR CARB ADJUSTMENTS. The straight gas did not usually have a load adjustment. Jan 26, 2009. #1. Well it is a Oliver 1750 gas with a MS USX 44 Carb. The head was removed due to a bad gasket (the split head, gasket was out) Since we had the head off they went through it and round the values, seals the who 9 yards. During last Winters 1947 John Deere M rebuild, I put a Steiner Tractor rebuild kit in the Marvel Schebler carburetor. The new engine ran well this Summer, although occasionally I would have to adjust the power adjustment screw to add more fuel when a heavy load was on the engine.Find where the jets are, and open it up so you can get to them. Then take a thin piee of wire and poke it through the jet to knock out any junk in there. Rinse it with carb cleaner, put back together, and it should be good to go. The owner said it had about ten hours on the carburetor before the 8N engine went bad. He was selling all the 8N tractor items on ebay. Sometimes if you are lucky, you can find a Zenith #13876 carb. on ebay.According to the service manual, the float should be set at 1 5/16. To check it, I set the carb upside down and measured from the bottom of the top half of the carb to the bottom of the float. The service manual illustration shows the float nice and level, but mine is probably 1/16" different between the front and the back.
