Jun 29, 2011 · Do this with the bike on its side stand on level pavement, garage floor, etc. Put a pan under the final drive, remove both the oil filler cap and the oil drain bolt. The oil drain bolt is the lower of the two. Drain completely, put the drain bolt and washer back and tighten it. Fill final drive with 4 ounces of SAE 80 hypoid gear oil. Ref. manual, let idle for 3-5 mins. shut down for 2-3 mins., hold bike straight upright off kickstand, insert dipstick, don't screw in, upper mark is full, lower mark means add a pint. 18C-31T-215/65. Mobil 1 M1-110 is one of them. Bosch 3323 is another. Both filters are made by Champion Labs and have the new media. Both are fine for the 1300. Bosch is about $6...M1 is around $11.

The PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilator) hose is attached to the intake to burn the fumes vented by the engine. Oil comes along with the fumes. If you have the stock air box, there should be a clear tube under the air box to catch some of the oil. Drain the tube and wipe out the throttle with a dry cloth. If it has a paper filter, replace it.
